Dr. Ferzat Mercan CIVIL ENGINEER, Ph.D.

Profile Dr. Mercan is a Civil Engineer (Gazi University, Ankara, 1986), M.S. and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering (Middle East Technical University, Ankara 1989 & 1996). Dr. Mercan also worked as a research assistant in Department of Civil Engineering of Middle East Technical University for 3 Years (1990-1993). During his academic works, he founded many electronic test laboratories for experimental research of structures for universities and companies. He has done many projects for private sector as an expert in Middle East Technical University for development of cold formed steel structures during this period of time. During his Ph.D. Thesis, he studied behavior of brick infilled R/C frames under earthquake. His researches were used as a reference for new Thesis, Articles and academic works. Dr. Mercan is the author of many technical and construction related articles. Dr. Mercan also attend as examining committee member for M.S. Theses. He was member of the committee of AFAD (Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) prepared a design code for earthquake design of cold formed steel buildings. He is attending many technical conferences as speaker and moderator. His professional works on steel prefabrication and modular buildings started as a Structural Design Engineer since 1989 in a pioneer Turkish company in steel prefabrication. 1994-2016 he was working at “Dorçe Prefabricated Building & Construction INC.”. He owned different positions as chief Structural Engineer, Head of R&D, Deputy General Manager and Senior Executive Manager in Dorçe. Today Dorçe owns one of the biggest cold formed steel prefabrication production capacity in the world. Dorçe also ranked as top 250 biggest International Contracting company of the world in 2013, 2015 & 2016 (ENR List, Engineering News Record, McGraw hill).
